Air Conditioning Systems - Getting A Better Efficient Air Conditioner

Air conditioning has been around for a long time, but like everything else the new units are so much more economical it's time to replace the old one. If you have installed central air more than ten years ago you need to look at replacing the unit with a new economical unit. You may save at least that much in operation costs. What could be better than efficient air conditioners?

If your heating system does not have any duct work, installing a cooling system that will work in your home is kind of tricky. You can go with a split system that has an indoor compressor and then is vented to a window. As the compressor is still inside the house it is putting out heat at the same time it is blowing cold air. Although it cools the area efficiently it can be noisy at the same time.

There is also the portable unit that can be moved from room to room and doesn't have to be vented to a window. Here again the compressor unit is inside the house. The advantage of this system is that you can move it to the room you are in most of the day, and then take it back to the bedroom for the night. If you have company planned you can always move the air conditioning to the room they will be in.

If you have no way to install a whole house air conditioner, you can always go with window units. They can be purchased in several sizes depending on the size of room you want to keep cool. They are easily installed in a window, and the compressor is sitting on the outside of the house so that it runs quieter than either a split system, or the portable unit. If you have a large house you may want to install the window units in a couple of rooms. The other down side is that if you do not want the air conditioning until blocking your view all winter you have to remove them for the winter and store them. So whatever units you install make sure to check the energy efficiency of the unit.
