Air Conditioning Unit - Which One to Choose?

Air conditioning has come a long way. During summer you need air conditioning to stay at home. To drive to office you need it in the car. In office too you have it. In short, you have air conditioning everywhere. You cannot live without it nowadays. There are different kinds of air conditioning systems; namely central air conditioners, window and split type air conditioners.

Central air conditioning is used in big enclosures like supermarkets airports and high rise buildings where cooled air is supplied from a central location. These are huge units using water cooling with cooling towers which are maintained and operated under the supervision of engineers. For houses and small offices it is the small unit which is suitable to cool a small room. In small air conditioners there are two types; namely split type and the window type.

Window type is good for a small room but despite using new technology they are very noisy. The only advantage of the window type is that when it breaks down the replacement is very easy. In contrast the split type makes very little noise. As a result most houses use this type for small rooms as it is more efficient and less noisy. In the split type, compressor is located outside the house and the evaporating unit inside the room that needs cooling. The compressed liquid of coolant gas brought into the house through copper tubing is evaporated in the evaporator. This arrangement makes it less noisy as half the unit is placed away from the room.As it is more efficient and emits less noise the best option for households is the split type.

These days manufacturers of air conditioners use CFC free gas to help preserve ozone layer. So, next time you replace your old window type air conditioners buy split units. Air conditioning is of such importance that you must give it priority in selecting them
