Maintaining Domestic Air Conditioning Units in the Home

With the effects that global warming is having on this planet more and more people are opting to have air conditioning installed in their homes. In fact as you will soon discover when you do some more research into domestic air conditioning systems there are plenty of different ones you can select.

Not only are there certain things that need to be considered when you buy an air conditioning system for your home but also after it has been installed. If you fail to maintain your domestic air conditioning system correctly then the effectiveness of the system will be greatly reduced.

Below we have provided some tips that you may find useful when maintaining your split or window based air conditioning system in your home. These tips will not only ensure that the system runs properly but also efficiently.

Tip 1 - There is a component within air conditioning systems that is vital to ensure that it works effectively, and this is the filter. It is therefore important that this be changed regularly (every month or couple months) at best. If however, you decide that this does not need to be done then not only will the air quality in your home be effected but also the amount of money you spend on repairing the system will be greater.

Tip 2 - Next you need to regularly check the air conditioning systems compressor to make sure that it not only works properly but also there is enough gas in it. If you don't then the domestic air conditioning system you have won't work as effectively. It takes time but it is worth getting your compressor cleaned and gassed regularly to ensure that the air it circulates remains cool and fresh.

Tip 3 - At the start of the summer months before you begin using your domestic air conditioning system get the evaporator coil checked. If the one in yours has become worn then get it replaced otherwise the quality of the air and the way it circulates around your home will be badly affected.

Tip 4 - Another task that should be carried out before the system is used after the winter months is the duct work should be cleaned out thoroughly. If you don't then the quality of the air flowing around your home is going to be very poor. Remember that whilst not in use dirt and other contaminates will collect in the duct work and these will then be expelled into the air in your home when you turn the system on again.

Tip 5 - Although you may not like the idea it is advisable that before you use the domestic air conditioning system you have installed each year to get a reputable company into check it over. Not only will they be able to identify any potential problems with the system, but be able to recommend a solution which will ensure that your system remains effective.

Hopefully these tips will help to ensure that the domestic air conditioning system you have works properly. Also if you keep these tips in mind you will end up saving yourself money as the system will run more effectively and you won't be faced with any bills to get the system repaired.
