Portable Air Conditioner Vs Window Units

Choosing between a portable air conditioner and a window unit can be difficult, but each one is beneficial in its own way. There are a few minor things that can set each one apart from the next, and some features are more noticeable. When choosing between the two, consider these factors and features f each one to help make a better educated decision.

Portable AC Units

One of the most noticeable features of a portable AC unit is that it can be moved from room to room when you want to cool a different location. You can cool an entire floor of rooms with one unit rather than having to buy a window unit for each room. However, you can't cool each one simultaneously. There are some portable units that are going to need to use a hose to release the hot air out of the window through a hose and this can limit their portability. These units will take up space in a room and with some models there is noise that can turn to be bothersome.

Window AC Units

For those interested in choosing a window unit, you will find that they are space savers, however, they are confined to a window. Any noise that comes from them is typically outside meaning you won't hear it inside the home. This goes for any condensation that drips off during use. If you live somewhere where winter gets cold, you are going to have to keep your unit covered to prevent it from freezing and to also prevent any cold air from getting inside the home. You can also remove them for the colder months, but this can sometimes be a hassle. These options are affordable and you can have a unit in each room and each one can run and cool a room at one time. You can set each unit to maintain the temperature of a room. You can have each room at a different temperature based on your needs and wants.

In Conclusion

There are many key factors that should be considered when trying to determine the proper air conditioner unit for your cooling needs. What factors help you make a choice all depends on what your needs are. For some, a portable unit is going to be beneficial especially if you live alone as you can take the unit to the rooms you are in. Window units may be beneficial for others who do not have a lot of space to spare for large units. Portable units are great for elderly individuals as well because they are often times fragile and weak so aren't going to be able to move them all over the place when they need to. Window units are going to be out of the way and will avoid having to move it when needed. Also, there isn't going to be a lot of maintenance on these, but if you live in an apartment, some may not allow the use of them. Check before installing them.
